How we turned a cheap table from Amazon into a conversation piece

Everything we used to complete this task can be found here (except the paint) Before we started this short endeavor, we knew we had a color we wanted to use in our kitchen for our counters under the island. They are currently black; we want to paint them this beautifully calming “Monet blue” from Behr. While figuring out the best (cost effective and good looking) we decided to give the color a try on a smaller piece in our home.

I decided to replace the incredibly large couch table in our living room that sits behind our oversized couch, which made our living room seem small. Which is a hard feat because it’s a pretty big living room that connects with our kitchen. Yes, we have a semi-open concept home. Semi. So, after weeks of searching online, I found this table. I was considering some tables of cool pine finishes, but the tables weren’t what I wanted, and finally found the table shape that I liked, then after talking it through with Ryan that I can’t find what I was looking for, he suggested what if we buy the table and paint it with the color we want using a spray gun. Genius.

So, we purchased a spray gun with an attachment for paint, put the table together first which I think worked best for us, and took it outside on a non-windy, not- humid day. He primed it first, even though we were using the highest-level paint, and did two layers of paint. Then he painted the drawers, and he made the executive decision to paint the knobs and pulls champagne bronze, which were perfect.

For the first few weeks, the paint was kind of tacky and I was worried anything sat on it would stick, but thankfully, it fully dried and now I have it decorated. I decided to use the color scheme from our Monet print we have hanging and used Kelly green as an accent color, which is perfect. I also pulled in some darker blues in the Chinoiserie style for interest – like seriously, who even am I? I also bought a couple of books and vases to round it out. I am still on the lookout for a clock.

I am so in love with this color and table, and I’m so glad we didn’t settle for less than what we wanted but gave our own style.
